Ford House Visitors Center

Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan

Designer: Luci Creative

The Ford House Visitor Center introduces families, school groups, and tourists to Eleanor and Edsel Ford’s life and the legacy of their family. Visitors begin their journey into the Ford Family’s private life through a living room-inspired lobby fabricated and installed by Ravenswood Studio.

Through a media collage of home video clips, and family artifacts displayed in custom cabinetry and casework, visitors are immersed in what it was like to live in and visit the stately home when the Ford’s lived there. Ravenswood Studio created cases for two digital Ford Family scrapbooks: one encased in an AV table that matches the aesthetics of the home furnishings, and the other in a reader rail that aligns with a projection-mapped exhibit showing family photos and movies, as well as the changing seasons of the grounds. Visitors can also test their interior design skills at the Eye for Design interactive with a touchscreen integrated into an historic-looking drafting table.

An additional gallery provides the Visitor Center with the ability to host temporary and traveling exhibits. The space currently features Driven by Design, where visitors can view three historic one-of-a-kind Ford car models. Ravenswood Studio printed floor to ceiling graphics for this larger than life room.
