Ravenswood Studio was tasked with fabricating and installing a Zero Net Energy (ZNE) demonstration house within a regional office of Pacific Gas & Electric in Northern California. Our scope of work included developing and engineering interactives that provided visitors with information about energy saving technologies in an immersive, experiential environment. We were challenged to create an interactive tour with layered information for two very different audiences of this experience, both contractors and homeowners. The desired outcome was to increase customer awareness and engagement with currently available ZNE tools and technologies.

We developed a series of analog and digital interactive exhibits that highlighted the effectiveness and efficiency of various ZNE tools. From simple hands- on comparisons of different lighting technologies, to\ an amazing augmented reality tour using an iPad, the ZNE house is full of visitor-activated demonstrations and content. The augmented reality tour is an easily updatable way for visitors to walk through the house and locate various energy saving features.

The house is also built as an interactive classroom with a show control, that allows facilitators to demonstrate how the house performs during various weather and seasonal conditions. In a centralized dashboard the home performance data is an interactive showcase organized by functional themes.
