In need of major updates, the Children’s Discovery Museum turned to Ravenswood Studio to fabricate an entirely new health-focused exhibit.
Healthy Me teaches children about general wellness, healthy habits, and how they can take care of themselves. With subjects ranging from how the body works (including farts), to how kids can practice a healthy lifestyle, and to the different roles and kinds of health care workers, there is a lot to learn in this small but entertaining space. Healthy Me features dozens of physical interactives, including a digestive track course, whoopee cushion gas wall, and healthy hand washing digital interactive. Due to the high-touch hands-on nature of the exhibit, we built several prototypes of each interactive to ensure durability and fun.
The fabrication focused on durable materials and techniques without limiting the fun graphic oriented design. Through a mix of direct printing on plywood and other traditional printing and painting methods we were able to create a fun, vibrant space that also has the longevity required of a children’s museum exhibit.
