The Kearney Welcome Center features five distinct areas designed to introduce visitors to local businesses, highlight the city’s hidden gems, and showcase local wildlife. Located along the Platte River, Kearney attracts thousands of tourists each year who come to witness the migration of Sandhill Cranes. To celebrate this event, the Welcome Center includes custom river-themed flooring that guides visitors through the exhibit, along with hand-sculpted cranes that hang from the ceiling.
In addition to the graphic printing, fabrication, sculpting, and wayfinding, Ravenswood Studio was also responsible for the experience’s interactive development. An interactive map provides visitors with a visual reference for things to see and do in Kearney. Two-dimensional cutouts of icons representing select sites are mounted on top of the map. Surrounding the map, informative descriptions of these sites offer more details about each location. Visitors can press a button next to each description to illuminate the corresponding 2D icon on the map, allowing them to easily locate each site.
